Balloon-Lift-Control (BLC) is a very safe procedure used for the pre-augmentative stripping of the maxillary sinus mucosa. It is minimally invasive and extremely easy to pick up. Independently of the vertical height of the osseous sinus floor, the mucosa can be lifted by more than 10 mm. BLC consists of two osteotomes with the help of which a balloon expander is being inserted into the maxillary sinus after impression of the weakened floor. Subsequently the balloon is extended to the required size using radio-opaque liquid. The necessary volume equals the volume of augmentation required. This way, sinus floor augmentation becomes a procedure that can be carried out easily and quickly in all dental practices that specialise in implants without leading to the typical complications associated with conventional sinus lifts.
